New Installation for Office Extension

Overview:
Airkool was contracted to supply and install new air conditioning, HRV, toilet extraction, and electrical services to meet the customer’s requirements for a new office extension, ensuring optimum temperature control and compliance with current building regulations.

Our Solution:

Alpine HC (trading as Opera Beds) approached us as they had ambitious plans for a significant revamp of their existing offices.

This included extending the current GF showroom, building a training room, a new staff canteen, and welfare facilities, and building a brand
new FF mezzanine office extension, which would virtually double the existing office space.

Being an existing, long-term provider to Alpine, Airkool were asked to assist with the design of the new mechanical services required for these works, which included air conditioning, heat recovery ventilation, toilet extraction, and electrical works.

Outcome:

In total, Airkool supplied and installed 12 new Fujitsu Ceiling Cassette Type Split Systems to serve the FF office extension and the new GF Canteen. In addition to the above, several existing AC units were relocated to suit the new design.

To meet the building regs for the FF office extension, Airkool also supplied and installed 1No Mitsubishi Electric Heat Recovery Ventilation System, which provides fresh air to the office area.

Airkool also supplied and installed a new toilet extract system, as the current one was undersized and not fit for purpose.

In addition to all the above, Airkool Projects were also tasked with supplying and installing all the required new electrical services.

We initially provided a basic design of the electrical works to be undertaken as per the client’s instructions. However, as the works progressed, the design evolved, which necessitated rethinking and adjusting our ongoing works to accommodate the changes. This proved somewhat taxing at times, but we were able to meet the client’s needs in every way and still provide a high-standard Installation.

We carried out a partial strip out of old electrical and data cables and reconfigured some existing circuits to suit the new layout.

We supplied and installed a new 3-phase distribution board with surge protection. From this, we installed all necessary circuits for all the latest office power and lighting, the showroom power and lighting, the training room power and lighting, the Staff room power and lighting, the WC/entrance lighting, and all the new AC power supplies.

The showroom/training room / WC lighting consisted of dimmable LED spotlights and dimmable wall lights; the offices and staff room had 600×600 LED light panels. All new emergency lighting was installed throughout these areas, with a local emergency key switch installed within the electrical cupboard.

In the offices, we installed a combination of floor sockets and data points, as well as wall-mounted sockets and data points, to suit the new desk and media screen layout.

In the new staff canteen, we installed power for the new Island worktop, Ovens, microwave, and general power.

The client provided several high-quality pendant light fittings, which we installed in various areas within the offices and staff canteen. A complete electrical certification for the installation and the emergency lighting was provided upon completion.
